MIG/MAG welding (Metal Inert Gas / Metal Active Gas) allows high speed and deep penetration into the metal, making it ideal for load-bearing structures, machine bases and transformer enclosures, on both carbon steel and stainless steel.
For precision work and visible components, Officine Tironi uses TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding to ensure clean joints, free of slag, with minimal thermal distortion of the surrounding material. This technique is particularly suited to cases where the aesthetics of the joint are an integral part of the finished product's quality, for example on components intended to remain visible or on thin sheet metal where controlling heat input is essential to avoid distortion.
When working with thick sheet metal or heavy fabrication, Officine Tironi uses stick electrode and flux-cored wire welding, techniques that ensure deep fusion and flawless mechanical strength even on substantial sections.

The main difference lies in how the filler material is supplied and the level of control over the arc. In MIG/MAG, a continuous wire automatically feeds the weld pool, ensuring good productivity on large volumes. In TIG, the filler material is fed manually and the arc remains more stable: the result is cleaner, with less thermal distortion, ideal for visible components or thin sheet metal.
Every process follows WPS procedures and is carried out by WPQR-certified personnel. Joints are checked through visual and dimensional inspections, in compliance with the EN 1090 and ISO 3834 standards, which ensure complete traceability from planning through to final inspection.
